The Cambridge Zen Center, located near Central Square, is a great place to go if you are looking for more of what we do at BU Zen. They offer daily meditation practice (for free!), that is open to all. They also have a meditation group for students and recent graduates, called Young Zen, that meets every Sunday (except retreat weekends) at 12:30 PM.
BU Zen, and the Cambridge Zen Center, both practice meditation techniques that come from the Kwan Um School of Zen, a Korean tradition of Buddhism founded by Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1973. Kwan Um means "to perceive world sound", or to hear the suffering of the universe and offer help.
Mark O'Leary, a Senior Dharma Teacher at the Cambridge Zen Center, teaches a PDP meditation class at the BU FitRec, every Thursday, 11 AM - 12 PM. Registration is required. His class may be found under the mind/body section on the FitRec PDP website. Check out this awesome intro to meditation video by Mark!
You are always welcome to sit in the Robinson Room throughout the day, as long as another group is not using it. Marsh Chapel also runs various events throughout the semester — some religious, but many open to all, regardless of faith. BU Zen favorites include the Monday night community dinners, craft nights, and stress-relief day during finals week.
Insight timer is another great app that can help support a meditation practice. While BU does not offer acces to Insight timer, the free version of the app is still quite useful.
