Introduction to Improvisation on the Blues: Example Solos

Both solos on this page are to give you models of improvisation using the Blues Scale that we learned earlier. The first solo is fairly basic, and uses a lot of motives or melodic ideas to give the solo coherence. All of the notes in the first solo are from the G Blues Scale.

Example Solo #2 uses rhythms from Every Day I Have The Blues through out the solo. It is a bit more advanced, but a good solo to learn harder rhythms and more comprehensive use of the G Blues Scale.
