This program is a year-long honors course designed to utilize partnerships that provide an overview of business development and processes. The local business community partners with us to create project-based experiences for students by providing funding, expertise, meeting space, business tours and one-on-one mentoring. Students visit 70-80 area businesses, learn from guest speakers, participate in a class business, write business plans, and by the end of their senior year will start their own business. Business concepts learned through the experiential CEO class are critical; the 21st century skills of problem solving, teamwork, self-motivation, responsibility, higher order thinking, communication and inquiry are at the heart of student development throughout the course.
Timeline: Applications are accepted from January to March in the spring of the student's junior year.
Students are selected for the program by application and interview process.
If selected, students will be notified in spring of their junior year. Students will be expected to attend an orientation session during the summer prior to their senior year. The class meets from 7:30-9am or 9-10:15 am M-F in a variety of local businesses. Having transportation to and from the local business is helpful.
