National Honor Society

What is NHS?

NHS is an academic and service organization. Once accepted as a member of NHS, students must maintain the high standards of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Active members attend monthly meetings and complete 30 service hours during their senior year in order to earn the right to wear the NHS cords at graduation.

How does a student qualify for NHS?

Students who maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, are involved in campus and community activities, and demonstrate strong character and leadership are eligible for consideration after the first semester of their junior year.

What should interested Freshmen and Sophomore students do?

  • Maintain high levels of character, scholarship, leadership, and service

  • Follow school rules

  • Work hard on grades

  • Be involved in clubs, activities, and/or sports that interest you.

What should interested Junior students do?

  • Maintain high levels of character, scholarship, leadership, and service

  • Follow school rules

  • Work hard on grades

  • Actively participate in school activities. This includes a minimum of active participation in 2 approved activities (see list).

  • Juniors who have a CUMULATIVE grade point average of 3.5000 or higher after five semesters will receive an application for the National Honor Society.

  • Junior year is the only year students may apply for membership into the National Honor Society.

Can interested Senior students join NHS?

Only juniors who qualify, apply, and are accepted into NHS second semester of their junior year can be active members of NHS their senior year. There is no application process for seniors.
