What is FIRST Tech Challenge?

FTC is the third tier of FIRST programs. These teams can be comprised of students from 7th to 12th grade and consist of robots that are within a 18" x 18" x 18" sizing cube restraint. The competition season runs from September to April. To the right you will see the teaser video for next season's game. In September, students will attend a kickoff to learn what the challenge will be and then build a robot to meet the requirements of the challenge. Each year this challenge is different and requires unique development of solutions to the challenges posed.

To the right is a chart of the competition season for FTC. Practices are typically Monday-Thursday and last from 3:30-5:30.

Cronos was the first FTC team established at Blessed Trinity. In their inaugural year (2015), they were not only competitive in their district, but were even able to earn the Control Award for excellence in programming. In their second year, the Velocity Vortex challenge saw the robot grow and develop even further and the team garnered two more Control Awards. Cronos has attended the state championship for the past two seasons and attended the South Super Regional Championship in 2018. The team is now in their fifth year and is competing in the Roswell League for GA FIRST. This team is made up of students with prior experience in FTC and upperclassmen.

The Relic Recovery season (2017) was the first year for Oceanus as the robotics program expanded in numbers dramatically. This team is made up of 8th and 9th grade students. For being a team of students new to robotics, Oceanus has been successful. In the Skystone season (2019) the Oceanus team has been doing considerably better than in previous teams, and had an astounding 6th place on their first competition and 3rd place in their most reason competition.
