Here are some resources to use with your Dell Interactive TVs:
While the Dell interactive screens still offer the "touch" that SMART Boards offer, there are some other features we wanted to make you aware of. This video offers a quick introduction with the basic "ins and outs" of the Dell screens.
You may notice two dots along the sides of your Dell screen, and three dots along the bottom edge. Those bezel buttons unlock a bunch of hidden features like "Freeze Frame" and "multi-source display"! This video shows how to access these features.
After collecting feedback from a pilot group of teachers, we recommend the Epson Easy Interactive Tools as a replacement for SMART Notebook, in addition to using the core products like Schoology, Google Slides, Pear Deck, EDpuzzle, etc. The Epson Easy Interactive Tools should be pre-loaded on the district issued device you connect to your screen. If not, please submit a ServiceNOW ticket asking for it to be installed.
One piece of feedback received from teachers was that the internal speakers of the screen lacked the power to be heard throughout the classroom. To remedy this, external sound bars were installed to help boost the sound. This video shows how to operate the sound bars.
While they appear smaller, the Dell Mini computers are POWERFUL! You will notice they run faster due to a solid state drive (SSD), and the image they put out is up to 4K, making for a super crisp image on your screen.
If that stuff doesn't matter to you, let's break it down:
The Dell Mini computers will work EXACTLY the same as your district issued laptop/desktop machine
The Dell Mini computers are mounted to the back of your Dell interactive screen, and are controlled with the wireless mouse and keyboard provided
The Dell Mini computer can be used with the large Dell Interactive Screen turned on, or with it off (using the smaller desk monitor provided)
The series of videos below looks at some of the features and operations of the Dell Mini computers, and the button to the right links to documentation on the Dell Minis created by the RIC team
This video offers a quick intro to the Dell Mini
To turn on your Mini:
Locate the device on the back side of the Dell screen
Press the circular button at the top of the box to power the computer on
Use the wireless mouse and keyboard to log in as normal
This video introduces you to the Dell wireless mouse and keyboard connected to your Mini.
If your keyboard/mouse isn't working:
Check to make sure the power switch is moved to the "On" side (the side with the number 1)
Check to make sure your receiver is at the top center of your screen (See the 35 second mark in this video)
If those don't fix the issue, please put in a ServiceNOW ticket. It might be something as simple as the batteries need to be replaced, or it could be something more complicated.
Similar to your screen set up in the past, the Dell Mini provides a secondary, "Privacy", screen. This secondary screen can be set up in two different ways:
Mirrored: The privacy screen and the large screen will show the same thing
Extended desktop: The privacy screen and the large screen will act as two separate surfaces, but windows can be slid from one screen to the other, and vice versa.
We are currently recommending using the mirrored set up
