MyApps is a Single Sign-On (SSO) product that was deployed by our local BOCES and South Central RIC teams. The purpose of an SSO product is to make signing into various platforms easier for you. Once you have logged into your device (or the MyApps web page) with your district log in credentials, MyApps "knows" who you are and helps sign in to other select programs.
Once you sign off or power down that machine, your information is NOT saved, meaning if someone else logs into the same device they do not have access to your information; only theirs... unless you provided them your log in credentials (which we do NOT recommend).
Once you have successfully completed the initial set up for MyApps (the button to the right links to a page explaining the initial set up) by logging into a district issued laptop, Chromebook, or mac (with some limitations) you are all set to go. And all it will take to log in is your district email and network password. Yes... that's it.
One way is to double click the MyApps icon on your desktop. Keep in mind, this method works best on a Windows machine, and will not work on a Chromebook. Furthermore, using MyApps this way may NOT give you access to any bookmarks, saved passwords, and/or extensions that you have saved in your Chrome web browser.
A second way to access (this does work on Chromebooks) is by going to the website: myapps.(schooldomain). So for our schools, Windsor and Maine-Endwell, those sites would be myapps.windsor-csd.org and myapps.me.stier.org, respectively. That should direct you to a page that looks similar to the one below:
By clicking on any of the icons listed, you will be linked over to that site, and you should be automatically logged it. In short, MyApps acts as a traveling bookmark that saves your password and updates it as necessary.
Staff and students should see a MyApps icon, like the one shown in the picture below, on the shelf of a Chromebook. Clicking that icon will launch the webpage described above.
In the past, if you couldn't remember your network password it usually involved calling people, or creating a ServiceNOW ticket to have your password reset. Thanks to the information provided in the initial set up of MyApps you have the ability to reset your password directly.
The SCRIC Team is currently working on adding more services to MyApps, but if you would like to forward suggestions to Emily or myself, we will do our best to pass them along. Please keep in mind some of the criteria for being added to MyApps, the website needs to be an enterprise service. This usually involves a "paid account" status, but is much more complicated. An enterprise solution has the ability to communicate with the student information system in order to allow the user to log in.
