Dr. Althuri Avanthi received her Doctoral degree from the Department of Advanced Technology Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur, India in 2018. She completed her M. Tech from the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, IIT Kharagpur in 2012 and M. SC from Biotechnology Department, Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2010. She was awarded CSIR Nehru Science Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2018 and carried out 3 years of her Postdoctoral research at CSIR-IICT Hyderabad. She was selected as Associate Fellow by the Telangana Academy of Sciences in 2019. Dr. Althuri Avanthi joined the Biotechnology Department as an Assistant Professor in the year 2022.
Sumona did her B.Sc. in Botany from Handique Girl’s College (Gauhati University), Guwahati, Assam and her M.Sc. in Botany from B. Borooah College (Gauhati University), Guwahati, Assam. She has qualified CSIR NET (JRF/LS) Life Sciences, June 2021 (AIR - 74), GATE XL, 2022 (AIR 631), NE SLET, 2022. She joined IIT Hyderabad as a Ph.D. Student in August 2022. Her research interest includes valorizing agricultural residues into value added products.

Bhavya did her B. Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from SCT College of Engineering, University of Kerala, Kerala and her M.Tech in Biotechnology and Medical Engineering from NIT Rourkela. She has qualified GATE 2018 (AIR 543) and GATE 2021 (AIR 1346). She joined IIT Hyderabad as a Ph.D. Student in January 2023. Her research interest includes PLA based Biocomposites films.

Mohit did his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Lovely Professional University, Punjab. He qualified Joint CSIR – UGC NET (JRF/LS), June 2021 (AIR 232). He joined IIT Hyderabad as a Ph.D. Student in January 2023. His research interest includes Lignin valorization to value added products.

Sruthi did her B.Sc. in Botany from Nirmalagiri College (Kannur University), Kannur, Kerala and her M.Sc. in Botany from Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, Kerala. She has qualified CSIR NET (JRF/LS) Life Sciences, June 2023 (AIR - 133), DBT JRF, 2023 (CAT-1), ICAR AICE-JRF (AIR - 20), GATE XL, 2023 (AIR - 706), KSCSTE Research Fellowship-2022, CSIR NET (LS) Life Science, 2022 (AIR - 128). She joined IIT Hyderabad as a Ph.D. Student in January 2024. Her research interest includes waste valorization and polysaccharide-protein based composite film.

Vinith did his B. Tech in Biotechnology from Sathyabama Deemed University, Chennai and his M. Tech in Biotechnology from Anna University Chennai. He qualified UGC NET (JRF), December 2022. He joined IIT Hyderabad as a Ph.D. Student in July 2024. His research interest includes biomaterials and waste valorization aspects with application in the agriculture.

Sai prathibh did his B.Tech at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Kokapet. Currently he is pursing his MTech in Medical Biotechnology at IIT Hyderabad. His research interest includes cellulose valorization for transparent food packaging application.

Gouri did her B.Sc. in chemistry from BCM College (Mahatma Gandhi University), Kerala and her M.Sc. in Polymer Science from Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET-IPT), CUSAT, Kerala. She got 2nd Rank in M.Sc. from Cochin University of Science And Technology. She joined IIT Hyderabad in January 2024 as Project JRF. Her research interests include Biopolymer synthesis.
Shrestha did her BTech in Biotechnology from Amity University Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She cleared her GATE exam in 2023 and completed her MTech in Pharmaceutical Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India in 2025. She completed her MTech thesis on Gallic acid-modified Gelatin methacrylate for glioblastoma multiforme at BRIC-THSTI, Faridabad. She joined IIT Hyderabad in July 2025 as a project JRF. Her research area includes Biomass derived Biomaterials for food packaging applications.
Prakhar is pursuing his B.Tech in Biotechnology at IIT Hyderabad. He joined IBPT research lab in January 2025 as an intern. His research interest includes valorization of sugarcane bagasse into exopolysachharides.
Akshita Goyal did her B.Sc. in Zoology (HONS) from University Maharani College, Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is pursuing M.Sc. in Zoology from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan. She joined IITH in May 2025 as an Intern. Her research interest includes conversion of Cellulose to Nanocellulose.
Swarupa pursuing her B. Tech in Biotechnology from Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU), Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. She joined IITH in May 2025 as an Intern. Her research interest includes valorization of sugarcane bagasse into exopolysachharides.
Kuldeep Singh did his B.Sc in Biotechnology from CSJM University, Kanpur and MSc in Biotechnology from Lucknow University. He pursued his MTech in Medical Biotechnology at IIT Hyderabad. He did his M.Tech project on waste valorisation for Yeast oil production.

Ayan Banerjee did his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and his M.Sc. in Polymer Science and Technology from JIS University, West Bengal, India. He cleared GATE-2022, and completed his M.Tech in Materials Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India in 2024. He got a prestigious DAAD KOSPIE fellowship in 2023 to carry out his M.Tech thesis work in Germany. He joined IIT Hyderabad in June 2024 till May 2025 as a Project JRF. His research interests included Biomass-derived Biomaterials for food packaging applications. He is currently pursuing his PhD at University of Graz, Austria.
Sudeshna Samantaray did her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Fergusson College (Pune University), Pune, Maharashtra and her M.Sc in Chemistry with specialization in Biomaterials from IISER Tiruvananthapuram. Kerela. She joined IITH in April, 2024 till October 2024 as a project JRF. Her research interest included synthesis of biomaterials from waste material. She is currently pursuing her PhD at University of Galway, Ireland.
