I was born in Clinton, MD to two Philippine immigrants. Growing up, my parents focused on the importance of education first and foremost. My mom, who was a stay-at-home parent, worked with my sisters and I diligently in order to give us the best educational foundation possible. We moved around quite a bit during the first 8 years of my life, and when I was 5, we lived in the Philippines for 1 year while my parents applied for their Permanent Residency in the U.S. I had the amazing opportunity to learn about my Filipino heritage and get to know my extended family, with whom I still keep in touch, while I was there.
When I was 8, my family moved to the place I consider my hometown: Greensboro, NC. It was during that same year that I met the teacher who inspired me to follow in her footsteps: my third grade teacher, Mrs. Pamela McCormick. I graduated from Northwest Guilford High School in 2009. From there, I attended Guilford College and majored in Elementary Education and Peace & Conflict Studies and graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in 2013.
The 2024-2025 school year will be Year #12 as an elementary school teacher, and I have loved every minute of it! My first 4 years were spent teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade, then I transitioned to teaching 4th grade for 6 years, which has always been my favorite age group to teach. I have been teaching music since 2023, as well as serving as our SmartLab Facilitator, 5th grade science teacher, and STEAMM Coordinator for the Elementary School. My favorite aspect of my current role is that I get to see every single student from Preschool to 5th grade throughout my week - and there's never a dull moment!
I love every minute that I get to spend in the classroom, working to incorporate technology and real-world experiences into the classroom. There's nothing quite like seeing that "Aha!" moment light up the eyes of a student! I believe that every child should have access to the very best when it comes to their education and give my students 110% of my time, effort, and enthusiasm every day.

will never reach his destination.
