Classes visit the library once per week for thirty minutes as a part of the specials rotation. During their time in the library, students will enjoy listening to stories, learning library skills, and checking out a new book to take home.
Kindergarten and first grade students may check out one book at a time. Second grade students may check out two books at a time. Books may be kept for one week. Students may renew a book, but it must be brought into the library.
Second grade students may visit daily during recess to exchange books.
Birthday Book Club books are checked out in addition to their weekly allotted checkout. Additionally, classes may earn an extra book checkout as a reward from time to time.
Students are not charged fines for overdue books, but their borrowing privileges are restricted until their overdues are returned. A courtesy reminder sheet will be printed and sent home to notify parents that a book was not returned on time.
Books overdue for a month or more are considered lost. A bill for the lost book will be attached to the student's record. Bills can be paid by sending in cash or a check made payable to Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools.
If you find a lost book that has been paid for, you may return it to the library for a full refund.
Please keep books in a safe place at home away from pets, younger siblings, and food and drink.
If a book is damaged at home, please do not try to repair it. Many types of tapes can cause further damage to book pages. Special book tapes and glues are used to repair our library books. Please sent it back with a note so it can be repaired.
If a book is damaged beyond reasonable repair, a bill for replacement may be sent home and attached to a student's record. Borrowing privileges may be restricted if any fee is attached to a record.
Bringing in a replacement copy is not permitted since the quality of the book may not meet the standards we set for our collection.
