Tryouts:
We allow ALL students to participate. The only requirement is that athletes to show up for conditioning practices, work hard, do the workouts the best they can and have a positive attitude. If you can manage that, you are on the team!
All athletes can run, even if it is a slow jog. If you are only interested in a throwing event (shot put and discus) you are still REQUIRED to do the jogging workouts.
Pole vault is the only event we will have tryouts and make cuts (for safety and numbers reasons). Coach Reagan will explain this when he meets with anyone interested in this event.
Communication to students and parents:
All communication will be sent out through Parent Square. See the main homepage for the sign up link. Please have all individuals that need/want track related info sign up for this.
Final Forms: (click here to login or create account)
In order to participate in bellbrook sports, all parents AND athletes must have a final forms account. (instructions here)
If you already have a final forms account from a previous sport, please update your child's info by adding track and field to their name.
All forms need to be completed and all signatures made by both parent and student in order to participate.
A valid physical must be on file. Physicals are good for 1 calendar year. Physical forms can be picked up in the front office.
Uniforms:
All athletes will be provided with a school issued jersey. Athletes are responsible for providing their own SOLID BLACK Shorts.
All clothing worn under uniform must be SOLID BLACK. This includes short sleeve T-shirts, log sleeved t-shirts, leggings, etc.
Shoes can be any variety of color.
Pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly. If temperatures are below 50, pants and sweatshirts are REQUIRED. Always have pants and a sweatshirt in your bag.
Hats and gloves can be worn in extreme cold conditions (including meets).
Practices: (see the calendar page to see when practices are)
Practices are mandatory. Athletes involved in other sports are welcome but please communicate with a coach when you'll be absent or need to leave early.
Being sore is not an excuse to miss practice. Injuries will alter workouts but are not a reason to miss practice. Sickness is a reason to miss practice (please don't come). COMMUNICATE!
Unexcused absences will lead to non entry in track meets and eventually removal from the team.
If a student is TARDY OR ABSENT from school, they cannot participate in a practice or a meet that day. For Saturday meets, athletes cannot be TARDY OR ABSENT from school the Friday before. A Drs. note will excuse them.
All practices take place at the high school track unless otherwise stated.
Pick up your child near BCI playground.
All athletes will get on the shuttle busses at BMS to ride over to the stadium. Students will use the stadium locker rooms to change and get ready for practice.
Meets: (See the calendar page to see when/where meets are)
Transportation is provided to and from meets. Buses depart middle school and return to middle school.
Uniforms MUST be worn at meets and visible during competition (sweatshirts/pants can be worn over uniform when not competing).
There are different types of meets
Regular meets: Smaller meets between 2-3 schools. All athletes participate
Invitational Meets: Large meets between 8-20 schools. Only top athletes are entered in these meets. We constantly monitor performances throughout the season to determine the best placement of athletes that will make us the most competitive.
SWBL: Our league meet that is run like a typical invitational meet....just with league schools. ALL ATHLETES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR THIS MEET IF THEIR PERFORMANCES QUALIFY THEM IN THE TOP 4 OF A SPECIFIC EVENT.
State Championships: Certain meets will be state qualifying meets. If any athlete qualifies for this state meet we will take them. Qualifiers will be updated throughout the season. Top 24 in each event will qualify. The state meet is held at Hilliard Darby High School near Columbus. Information will be sent out as we get it.
