This website is where NHS members can find community service opportunities, meeting notes, and resources for the NHS.
The Burlington High School National Honor Society is devoted to serving the school and greater Burlington communities.
Our main focus is community service but members excel in the areas of leadership, character, service, and scholarship (the four tenets of NHS).
BHS juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher receive letters of invitation and can then complete the student information packet. Junior receive letters in the spring 9mid-March) and seniors receive letters in the fall (early October).
NHS members:
are required to be a peer tutor at BHS
must complete three individual service projects throughout the year
are expected to attend biweekly member meetings
should exemplify excellent scholarship, leadership, character, and service in school and the community
must participate in and fundraise for the COTS Walk
must participate in the annual Car Wash and sell at least four tickets (both junior and senior years)
Examples of individual service projects:
were elves and conductors on the Polar Express
provided Thanksgiving meals to 60 families
volunteered at St. Mark's church to prepare over 600 individual Thanksgiving meals
participated in the Penguin Plunge
cleaned up BHS on Green Up Day
