Announcements from Mrs. Scheidt

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I write to follow up on the communication sent from our Governor and Superintendent. We should all be aware at this point that school is closed for the rest of the year. This is shocking and unsettling. At this point, there are many unanswered questions. As a BSD and HMS community, we are working hard to get those questions answered. Our HMS faculty has begun working on how to best deliver online learning to middle schoolers. We have spent the last week reading articles about best practices for online/distance learning and will implement these into our delivery of curriculum in upcoming weeks. Please take some time in the next few days to process this unexpected news with your child/children, family, and friends. As many of you know I also have a child in the BSD school system and I am going through this transition as well as a parent and educator.

Please expect more information in days to come. I will continue to use this format to share information. Thank you Mattie Scheidt

From Our Guidance Department

Dear Hunt Students and Families,

We hope this note finds you and your families healthy. Although we are staying distant in our learning we can still be in touch. Just like when we are in school, our job is to work with the adults in your life to help you to feel safe and happy. This may feel like a confusing or sad time since we are not able to see our friends, teachers, and neighbors. We will be sharing some ideas to help with strong feelings, taking care of yourself and ways to problem-solve. Here are some to get you started:

  • Make a schedule (it can be one with school work and fun breaks)

  • Create a dedicated space just for you and your work

  • Stay active in mind and body

  • Talk with trusted adults about your feelings

  • Relax when you can (read a book, try Yoga, draw)

  • Eat healthy foods and get plenty of rest!

Our hope and goal for you over these weeks is to provide some strategies and activities to manage the many feelings that you might be having. We are available to talk with parents and students. We can email, talk over the phone, google chat or google hang-out over these weeks that we are at home. We will be checking our email every day Monday-Friday and we can make a plan to connect.
