At Hunt Middle School, we have a sixth grade string orchestra and a seventh and eighth grade string orchestra. They are elective courses, and meet on Red days. Instruments offered are violin, viola, cello and double bass. All levels of experience are welcome. We explore a variety of musical styles and traditions, and focus on reading music, fundamentals of technique and applicable music theory. In addition to full ensemble rehearsals, each student receives a series of lessons throughout the year, providing the opportunity for essential individual development. Students learn how to be part of a team when playing in an ensemble, and are expected to participate positively in that experience.
