Each year, since 1957, Vermont students in grades four through eight have selected their favorite book from a list of nominees. It is recommended that students read at least five of the year's nominated titles before voting. Voting takes place in the spring, generally beginning in April.
This website has been created for you (EES students and caregivers) to be able to get a better understanding of this year's Golden Dome Nominees. You can click on a book cover on the home page to read the publisher's summary and some include videos from the author or book trailers. As Ms. Howard reads the books she will be including her own book talks of the story. You can find her book talks on the book's page, or if you click on the top where it says Ms. Howard's Book Talks.
Another way to use this site is to use the Find a book by genre page. All of the nominees there have been sorted into genres. You can also find out what genre a book is on it's page if you scroll down to the bottom.
Once you've found a book be sure to find a way to read it!
All summaries are provided by the publishers. Recommended Reading levels are provided by the state of Vermont.
