Students in grades 9 - 12 are assigned to an advisory.
Below is a guideline regarding which students can drop Advisory for the 2021-2022 school year
11th and 12th graders who do not have a class after 1st or 2nd block (for the remainder of a day) are excused from Advisory that day. 11th and 12th graders who have class through 3rd block are still expected to attend advisory, and can leave campus at 2pm if they do not have a block 4.
Students must leave campus after their last class for the remainder of the day if they are excused from Advisory.
Burlington City and Lake students are excused from Advisory on blue days.
Students who have afternoon classes at BTC are excused from Advisory.
Process for excusing students from Advisory
Requests to excuse a student from Advisory are made by the school counselors directly to Francesca Dupuis.
Francesca, counselors, and data manager (Carolyn Magri) will review the request and respond as needed on a case by case basis.
In the event a student who is typically excused from advisory needs to attend in order to receive information, participate in a special event, etc., the student will be notified in advance that their presence is required on that day.
