First slept out solo in woods with coyotes at age 12 & still learning outdoors. Not afraid of the dark. Started several outdoor school and summer programsChris Ottey has taught middle school science, math and outdoor education for over 20 years and currently teaches at Sacajawea Middle School where he leads an outdoor club. He enjoys getting outdoors and taking students into the outdoors to share skills and new wild experiences. With over 3000 adventurous middle school students he has currently logged over 115 day trips, 62 overnights in over 35 various outdoor environments. He has taken these students to visit and explore national parks, state parks, national forests, wilderness areas, wildlife management areas, city parks and many natural areas over trails, along rivers, around lakes, ponds, up mountains and across snowscapes. He has mentored many and taught them a few skills through teachable moments together outdoors, but mostly they have learned valuable lessons from the environments visited and its inhabitants.

She started in the outdoor classroom of the Tetons, teaching place-based environmental education. She's taught 3rd through 7th grades in Vermont and Montana, and, most recently, she worked at the district level as an instructional coach and curriculum specialist. She is excited to be back in the classroom with your children!
Rachel is passionate about meaningful, innovative learning for both students and educators. She is a Google Certified Educator (Level 2), mildly obsessed with the power of Twitter for educators, and co-founder of Edcamp Big Sky, an annual UNconference for educators.
In her spare time, Rachel loves skiing, hiking, mountain biking, reading YA (Young Adult) lit and traveling with her family.
