The NCAA eligibility rules require careful planning by the student-athlete to ensure that the required numbers of core courses are completed. Student-athletes should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center in their junior year of high school.
Please go to the NCAA Eligibility Center to find detailed information about eligibility requirements. Bozeman Gallatin High School’s CEEB Code is 270007. Below is a list of approved courses.
Initial NCAA eligibility will be evaluated under a rule that requires 16 core courses.
• 4 years of English
• 3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)
• 2 years of natural/physical science
• 1 year of additional English, math, or natural/physical science
• 2 years of social science
• 4 years of additional courses from any area above, foreign (world) language, or no-doctrinal religion/philosophy
*In addition, NCAA Division I requires 10 core courses to be completed prior to the seventh semester (seven of the ten core courses must be a combination of English, Math, or Natural/Physical Science that meet the core course requirements). These ten courses become “locked in” at the 7th semester and cannot be retaken for grade improvement. Students may not use any computer science courses to meet the core course requirements.
