Mollia, the All Student Body President and a student-athlete has big goals both in high school and for the future. As I talked to her, she seemed very in tune with herself and confident. Mollia is taking several IB classes and one of them is IB Spanish HL. She also studied American Sign Language as well as Spanish for the first two years of high school. In addition, she plays softball year-round for SRHS and a club team!
This is just one example of Mollia’s ambition. I learned she was chosen to be on Varsity as a freshman for softball and is now planning on continuing playing for her future college. Speaking of college, she also wants to go beyond a Master’s degree in sports medicine to set up a successful life for herself and allow her to travel all over the world. It seems like she has her life planned out already. But no one is pressuring her to set and meet these goals though. She is an internally motivated individual, and checking all these boxes off gives her some sort of satisfaction and she admits it’s hard to balance all these things.
Even though her parents aren’t pressuring her, she did say she had a rough childhood and that’s why she’s proud of being a good big sister. She cares about her four sisters a lot and loves being a part of their childhood to make it better than hers. Mollia is an inspirational student in Southridge and it seems like she will do great things in the future.
