Technology Student Association

Better known as TSA...

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is an organization that provides students the opportunity to perform individual and/or team technological skills at State and National Competitions. The Barnwell High School TSA Chapter was incepted by Steve Andrews, Technology Instructor & TSA Adviser, in August of 2001. In 2015, BHS Math Instructor Jason Browning along with Science Instructor Ali Godhrawala have become TSA Advisers while assisting students with their event preparation. A big "thank you" to these instructors.

The Barnwell High School technology students participate at the South Carolina TSA State Conference every year usually in the month of March. Students compete in events, such as; Film Technology, Dragster Design, Prepared Presentation, Computer-Assisted-Design Engineering 3D, Architectural Drafting 2D, VEX Robotics, Extemporaneous Presentation, Flight Technology, System Control, Technology Problem-Solving, Career Comparisons, Medical Technology, Agriculture/Biotechnology, Technical Writing, and many other technological events. In addition to competing in varied technological events, student participants are provided opportunities to socialize, forge collegial bonds, and/or serve in the formal TSA elected board process.

Barnwell High School technology students awarded first place in any event at the South Carolina TSA State Conference have the opportunity to compete at the National TSA Conference. Student participation in National TSA events hinges on monetary approval from the Barnwell School District #45 School Board. Barnwell High School has been represented at numerous National TSA Conferences throughout the years. They have traveled to Virginia, Colorado, Tennessee, Florida, and Chicago.
