“Team player” is an attribute that I think can be found in many if not all educators. One thing that sets me apart is my ability to go above and beyond. When asked to be a team player this last year I took that and ran with it. I held many different positions throughout the entire school. I went from online 4th grade teaching to teaching 2nd grade intervention, which was new for me, and even subbed in most grades. I was someone that teachers, administrators and students could rely on to be there no matter the situation.
"This year has not been ideal for anyone, but Megan has never once complained. She is extremely flexible and positive! We have had substitute shortages this year, and I have on multiple occasions had to pull her from doing intervention groups to teaching in various classrooms." -Lori Dagenhart
During my time as an online 4th grade co-teacher I had the opportunity to make multiple interactive lessons for my students. I taught mainly math while Ms. Rapstad focused on English and writhing. Below are a few examples of my lessons.
Rounding Lesson - Lesson interactive Peardeck (The Peardeck is the work that the students competed after going through the lesson.)
Quarter 2 Review Choice Board - I used this choice board to give students options on the order in which they wanted to complete their work. They had the freedom to do the work at their own pace as long as the work was finished by the end of the week.
I attended the virtual NCCE conference over Spring Break in March. One of my favorite speakers that I listened to was Jennifer LaGarde. In her discussion she talked mostly about how to help students become powerful and excited readers. She gave examples of books that were of high interest and powerful reads for students of all ages. I also took part in Matt Millers Ditch That Textbook virtual ditch summit. During this summit I got the privilege of listening to many great speakers talk about teaching methods that are alternatives to textbooks. These ideas really lined up with my teaching philosophy and I feel like I learned a lot of new teaching methods that I can recreate in my future classroom. About Matt Miller
In June I will be attending the Building Bridges conference in Billings. I am excited to learn more about standards based teaching and assessments. Alliance for Curriculum (ACE) is putting on the conference. I am excited to get to learn more from them and meet more of their staff. ACE Website
