Highlighting exciting new ways iPads are being used to engage Bryant students.
Mrs. Purcell at Bryant High School is using the Stop Motion Animation with the iPad to showcase BHS 3D design and sculpture classes. "They created stop motion animations using the Stop Motion Studio and iMovie apps on their iPads. The students started by creating a storyboard to plan out their animations. They could work individually or in groups of two and were required to make their animations at least 10 seconds long (120 pictures) and to add sound using iMovie."
Mrs. Kilburn at Bryant High School is using the iPad Clips application to showcase the soft skills her classes have been working on. Each student in the group selects a role and creates a positive and negative example of the soft skill. The students then create a script for their videos that describe all required information and steps. Once ready, they record their videos, and most importantly they use their creativity to determine what type of video they will create.
Samantha likes using the iPad for her math assignments, especially when the class was studying geometrical constructions. "There's something called Sketchpad Explorer and we can make our own geometrical constructions or use pre-made geometrical constructions to explore various conjectures," Samantha said. Manipulating the structures helps her understand and is a lot quicker than drawing a shape on graph paper. "It's a cool organizational thing because I can organize it for my own personal ideas, my own settings."
