Building reading fluency is a key component to strengthening a child's comprehension skills. A typical third grader should be able to read 90 words per minutes at the beginning of the year. By the end of the academic year, they should be able to read 110 words per minute.

Expanding vocabulary can significantly enhance your child's comprehension of what they are reading. One of our major goals this year is to increase the variety of words students are familiar with in order to broaden what they understand.

Comprehension or understanding of what a child reads is the end goal of the process of reading. For some, comprehension does not come easily. Additional strategies might be needed.
