In Bryan ISD, curriculum based assessments serve as formative evaluations of student learning. These formative assessments are used by all teachers in a subject at the same grade level to monitor student progress on TEKS/SE in the course curriculum. Bryan ISD core content areas - ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies - participate in the district based assessment program.

These assessments are course specific, STAAR-like formative assessments. They are administered online and on paper, depending on the subject. They are developed to assess what should have been learned by students by the assessment date indicated by the district curriculum and assessment calendar.

Modeled after best practices in education, this assessment program provides data that is used to drive decisions at all levels of education in the district. They ensure students are receiving instruction anchored in a guaranteed curriculum that provides instruction in all SEs established by the state standards.
