Tryout Information
Tryout Dates:
Monday, April 29th : Rising 7th/8th Graders Only @ RHMS Gymnasium 3:05-5:30pm
Tuesday, April 30th: Rising 6th graders and everyone from 1st cuts @ RHMS 3:05-5:30pm
Carver students: please arrive as soon as possible. We understand you don't get out of school until later.
Wednesday, May 1st: All Grade Levels (2nd cuts only) 3:05-5:30pm
Thursday, May 2nd: All Grade Levels (Final Evaluation) 3:05-4:30pm
If you are competing at Summit and will not be present for final evaluations, please talk to Coach Barnwell.
To attend Cheerleading Try-outs, athletes must:
#1) Complete the 2024 Tryout Sign- Up form
#2) Have an updated physical on file (Please attach as a pdf file in an email to coaches)
#3) Complete the online athletic registration
#4) Have 1 Teacher and 1 Non- Relative recommendation (i.e. another coach- Can also be another teacher). Please email them the link or ask them to visit our website to find it. 2024 Cheer Tryout Recommendation form
#5) Tryout material will be made available April 26th!
General Information:
Athletes are expected to wear school appropriate gym attire and running shoes with their hair up and no jewelry on.
Athletes will also need to bring cheer shoes (optional if you don't have any) and a water bottle.

If you make the team we will have workouts and choreography during the summer.
Skill Expectations
All athletes may tryout without experience or the skills listed below but we do encourage a high level of skill and technique .
Cheer: Sharp/tight motions, voice projection, positive demeanor
Jumps: Flexibility, speed, height, pointed toes
Standing Tumbling: Front Walkover, Back Walkover, Back Handspring, Back Tuck
Running Tumbling: Round-off Back handspring, Round-off Back Tuck, Round-off Back handspring Tuck, Round-off Back handspring Layout, Round-off Back handspring Full (Aerials, Arabians, punch fronts, whips also permitted)
Stunts at single leg extension: Libs, heel stretch, arabesque, scorpion, bow and arrow etc.
