Class Overview
This class is designed to help students who don't speak English as a first language. The students learn basic English rules, learn to apply them, and find success in English-speaking classrooms.
About Me
My name is Nikki Lukkarinen. I am originally from Minnesota and attended Iowa State University. Through my time in college, I studied abroad 4 different semesters (Korea, Belgium, Mexico, and Venezuela). Through my travels, I found a love for communication between people who don't speak the same language. The ESOL role is the perfect combination of teaching and helping facilitate this communication.

Course Syllabus
There is not a formal syllabus for this course. However, it involves a variety of English language arts skills including parts of speech, writing, reading comprehension, etc. I also support students by allowing them to use time to complete work from other classes to ensure understanding.
The 4 components of ESOL that we focus on are Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. All of the assignments in the ESOL class fall under one of these domains.
