Choral program

 

The Choral Program at RHHS is composed of students in Grades 9-12. The choirs have consistently scored superior ratings at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation. As independent singers, RHHS students have distinguished themselves at All-State Chorus, Choral Festivals and Literary Meet. RHHS choirs have performed in New Orleans, New York,  choir tour in Florence, Venice and Rome, Italy where they performed in the Vatican and most recently, the Women’s Chorus performed at two state conferences in 2022-2023. The RHHS Choral Program is looking forward to another successful year 


 

Janet S. Wooten, a native of Conyers, GA,  is entering her twenty fifth year as a music educator and her fifth year with Richmond Hill High School. She has experience in elementary and middle school music as well as teaching private voice lessons. Mrs. Wooten earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Shorter College and a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University. Mrs. Wooten previously served as Artistic Director of the Savannah Children's Choir and had the amazing opportunity to lead the choir in performing the Faure Mass in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In the summer of 2022, Mrs. Wooten led the Richmond Hill High School Vivace Choir on a concert tour of Italy, including performances at St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice and St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. Her professional affiliations include the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), National Association for Music Education (NAME) and Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). Mrs. Wooten enjoys spending time with her husband, Jody and their three children; James, Jaci and Joseph.
