Introduction activities

These activities MUST be completed prior to the kickoff on Tuesday September 15th, 2026

Assignments

The assignments are linked here AND will be assigned by your instructor. The grade will be reflected within the current marking period, and NOT calculated into the overall project grade.

1. Determine Group Roles AND fill out contract:  (You are ALL responsible for).

   • Tasks that need to be done with plants: Maintain the website; Collect and organize quantitative data; Collect and organize qualitative data; Maintain experimental setup.

   • Tasks that need to be done for the paper, you can share methodology, hypothesis, results (qualitative and quantitative), and sources.  

***The rest of the lab report is individual: abstract, introduction, analysis and conclusion.

• We will water as needed (unless directly effects your variable), administer variable if appropriate on Wednesdays, and measure twice a week.

2. Complete Graph Types Activity 

3. Using your assigned variable, complete the CER Constructing Explanations Tool: Arabidopsis 

4. Complete Getting Familiar with Arabidopsis and PR1::RUBY 

Plant Maintenance/Timeline: 

1. Cold Treat seeds - Monday August 24th - Wednesday August 26th

2. Plant seeds - Wednesday August 26th

3. Humidome - Crack Monday August 31st AND Remove Wednesday September 2nd

4. Thin plants to no more than 6 per pot - Wednesday September 9th

5. Begin treating plants with stress variable - Wednesday September 16th

6. Collect Data - Monday 9/14 - Thursday 10/26 *if you see rosettes developing BEFORE 9/21, start measuring ASAP*
