Ancient Egypt was located in the Nile delta. The Nile is the longest river in the world. This made river travel a very common form of transportation. Unlike most ancient civilizations ancient Egypt was one single kingdom, there were no city states. Pharaohs, which were the Egyptian's version of kings, ruled in dynasties. Ancient Egypt was separated into lower, and upper Egypt. Lower Egypt was located in the northern area, while upper Egypt was in the southern area.
