Hi there, My name is Kait Ostrov! I teach both Academic and Honors level Earth & Space Science and The Physics of Music here at Brunswick High School. I have also taught Chemistry, Physics, and Geophysical Science in the past. This will be my tenth year at BHS and thirteenth year teaching high school science. I earned my B.S. in Chemistry and Adolescent Education from the State University of New York at Oneonta and student taught in New York City. After graduating, I moved to Maine with my husband and we’ve been here ever since! I hold a M.S.Ed. in Educational Technology and a Certificate of Graduate Study in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
My teaching style emphasizes experiments, collaboration, problem-solving, technology, projects, real-world applications, and making learning fun! I am excited and passionate about teaching science to high school students so I try my best to make learning relevant and interesting. If there is anything I can do to support your learning, please let me know! I hope that I can share my love of science with you and help you better understand how our world works.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, making epic cheese platters, gardening, re-designing my home, playing Settlers of Catan (Cities and Knights is my jam) and scrolling through Instagram and TikTok. I love animals – especially dogs, goats, and elephants.
It ain’t easy being cheesy.
