Welcome to the Kate Furbish Elementary School Music Page.
Each of our Diversified Arts classes (Art, Library, Music, and Physical Education) see kindergarten through second grade students once a week for forty minutes.
In the general music classroom, students experience many facets of the musical world. They experience making music, listening to music, and responding to music by singing, moving, and playing classroom instruments such as non-pitched percussion instruments and pitched percussion instruments.
When students reach second grade they complete their time at Kate Furbish with a concert in the spring.
We have a beautiful music room that I have enjoyed welcoming students into at Kate Furbish Elementary School since opening in 2020.

State of Maine Song
The Kate Furbish School Song
Chickadee dee dee
Chickadees are we
We love our little Furbish family
Like the flora and the fauna,
We grow all year long
Here at Kate Furbish we sing this special song.
Chickadee dee dee
Chickadees are we
We love our little Furbish family
Together here at Furbish,
We discover and explore.
If you didn’t hear us, we’ll sing it once more.
Chickadee dee dee
Chickadees are we
We love our little Furbish family
State of Maine Song
Grand State of Maine, proudly we sing
To tell your glories to the land,
To shout your praises till the echoes ring.
Should fate unkind
Send us to roam,
The scent of the fragrant pines the tang of the salty sea will call us home.
Oh, Pine Tree State,
Your woods, fields, and hills,
Your lakes, streams and rock bound coast
Will ever fill our hearts with thrills,
And though we seek far and wide
Our search will be in vain,
To find a fairer spot on Earth than Maine! Maine! Maine!

All the colors, all the colors that bloom in the meadows are colors of springtime.
All the colors, all the colors that dance in the sky are the colors of rainbows.
All the colors, all the colors of nature spring forth to make my heart sing.
Then I know why the colors of springtime are bringing me joy and a heart full of love.
Then I know why the colors of springtime are bringing me joy and a heart full of love.

My country ‘tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim’s pride!
From every mountainside,
Let freedom ring!
Let music swell the breeze
And ring from all the trees,
Sweet freedom’s song.
Let mortal tongues awake,
Let all that breathe partake.
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Early in the evening, just about supper time
Over by the courthouse they’re startin’ to unwind
Four kids on the corner tryin’ to bring you up
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp.
CHORUS
Down on the corner, out in the street
Willy and the Poorboys are playin’, bring a nickel, tap your feet.
Rooster hits the washboard and people just go to smile
Blinky thumps the gut bass and solos for a while
Poorboy twangs the rhythm out on his Kalamazoo
And Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo.
CHORUS
You don’t need a penny just to hang around
But if you’ve got a nickel won’t you lay your money down?
Over on the corner there’s a happy noise
People come from all around to watch the magic boy
CHORUS
