BHS Jazz Bands

Auditions for the 2023– 2024 align with the Maine Jazz All State auditions. As you prepare these materials you should strongly consider auditioning for Jazz All State as well. Below are lists of materials and what you will be expected to submit. You are welcome to submit all components of the audition, which in turn will better prepare you for a Jazz All State Audition.

Winds
1. "Take the A Train"
2. Etude
3. Solo
4. Scales
If you are interested in being considered for Honors Jazz Band you must submit a recording of 1, 2 and/or 3, and 4. Everyone will submit the "Take the A Train" head and scales.

Rhythm Section
Piano/Bass/Guitar
1. "Take the A Train"
2. Comping/Bassline Etude
3. Melodic Etude
4. Solo
5. Style Demonstration

Drums
1. Play along with "Take the A Train" head
