Post-16 Transition

We understand that, as a result of Covid 19, the plans that our current year 11 students may have had with regards to visiting colleges, employers and training providers have been severely disrupted. With just a few months to go now before they embark upon the next exciting chapter in their lives, many students will have been left wondering what they need to do next. At Outwood Academy Brumby we have made it a priority to ensure that all of our students are well prepared to take these next steps, whatever they may be.

The post-16 transition booklet below has been designed specifically for 2021 and offers a range of advice and information which we hope you will find useful and that will provide the answers to many of the questions you might have on the transition process from school to college, training or employment.

Outwood Academy Brumby are also delighted to announce John Leggott College's brand-new Transition+ programme which has been created for JLC prospective learners and designed to give them a bespoke insight into studies at JLC and help them to transition smoothly into further education.

The programme will run from Monday 7th June until Thursday 1st July 2022.

The aim of the programme is to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to make a strong start in September 2021, as well as ensuring their choices they have made upon application are the best options for them and will enable them to achieve their goals and aspirations for the future.

Learners will be introduced to a range of subject sessions, designed to explore the specifications of their chosen subject and even beyond what they will study for their qualifications. As part of the programme, learners will also have the opportunity to gain an awareness into what it is like to be a student at John Leggott, participating in more than just subject tasters but also having the opportunity to investigate the super-curriculum, further study and employment pathways beyond their time with JLC, developing digital literacy skills and so much more.
