Homework!!!!

Homework is one of those topics that has been debated for a long, long, LONG time so... I am taking research AND my experience into account with my policy on homework:
  1. The month of September is a BIG testing month to determine if, or how much, summer loss has occurred and in what areas. Our students need to stretch their bodies and indulge in their own interests when they get home to maintain a good testing mindset.

  1. There are many parents that do not have a large amount of time with their child when everyone gets home. I want that time to be filled with discussions about their day, what they learned, talk about a show the family watched together, play with their siblings or friends, etc. What is not helpful for ANYONE is when the tired child is arguing with the equally tired parent about their homework. Quality family time is important for our students' sense of security and self-worth, as well as, we have such little time where they WANT to hang out with us. Soak it up for all its worth!

  1.  After September I am asking that students read for 15-20 minutes Monday thru Friday. I am not requiring a reading log to be filled out. I'll communicate with you if there is a time where I DO send an assignment home, along with giving your student plenty of time to complete it.

The Main Technological Platforms We Use

Google Classroom: Once they log into the computer using their google email, they can go straight to their google classroom through the waffle.

Clever: This site takes them to a database that contains all of the other websites, along with their stored usernames and passwords for each. It is located by their google icon in their google account.

Reflex: Students practice their multiplication and division facts. They can log into this site through brpskids.com.
