The Sixth Form has had a very busy and positive start to 2026. Year 12 students have been demonstrating strong progress through their January assessments, and we look forward to welcoming parents and carers to discuss these outcomes at Parents’ Evening on 12 February. Year 13 students have returned this term with renewed determination and focus, encouraged by a number of exciting apprenticeship and university offers, including five from the University of Cambridge. We are delighted with their achievements so far and continue to encourage them to work hard and remain ambitious as they strive to achieve their best possible grades this summer.
As part of our PSHE programme, Year 13 students enjoyed a visit to the Houses of Parliament, while Year 12 students took part in a PSHE day featuring a range of guest speakers. These sessions supported their understanding of post-18 pathways, including university and degree apprenticeships, as well as providing valuable first aid training. We hope all students have a restful and productive half term, and that those attending the school ski trip or the New York visit have an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Studying for A level or T level places more responsibility on the student to learn independently. In order to be successful, it is important that students plan and organise their study, and use a variety of techniques to ensure full understanding. Students have study periods during the school day, and home work time to complete their independent study. We recommend the Rule of 8, which is that in a 24 hour period, students allocate approximately 8 hours a day for school work (including lessons), 8 hours for sleep, and 8 hours for themselves. If students require any support with study, the pastoral team and subject teachers are happy to help.

In this section, students will be provided with information on university days, Post-16 information and much more such as taster lectures, work experience opportunities, summer schools, apprenticeships and webinars
It is always a pleasure to host alumni students. Poppy Kirby came back to talk to Year 13 students about the range of apprenticeship opportunities with DOC Cleaning. Listening to real career journeys from within their business and the variety of roles and opportunities available, helped to stimulate discussion and motivate Year 13 students to consider different pathways.
Thank you to Poppy and the team for coming in.
Our Year 13 students recently had the opportunity to tour the Houses of Parliament/Supreme Court of Justice as part of their PSHE Day.
