A Framework for Differentiated Instruction
The goal is to have a flow of differentiation so that what we do is to have a fit for each student much of the time. Our goal is to bring together the elements we can differentiate and ways we go about differentiating them so there is a wholeness to what we do.

Specially Designed Instruction is instruction that is individually tailored to address the impact of a student's disability on learning by specifically designing instruction that scaffolds skills targeting gaps in student's learning.
What SDI is?
SDI can occur in many different educational settings and can be implemented by a variety of team members.
SDI addresses the unique needs of one student that results from an identified disability.
SDI is developed by the ARD committee.
SDI ensures access to the general curriculum.
SDI uses vertical alignment to scaffold instruction based on current student academic level of functioning.
SDI is the adaption of content, methodology, and delivery of instruction.
SDI is in addition to general education instruction/ supplemental.

SDI is not determined by specific disability categories.
SDI is not developed for groups of students.
SDI is not provided without collaboration between general and special educators.
SDI is not permanent and unchanging.
