Reminders
All children require a hat in Terms 1 and 4. We would appreciate your support in ensuring your child has their hat at school everyday.
For those children who bring a device to school, please ensure the device is charged before coming to school and continue to bring it everyday.
The school pool will open from about Week 4. Please remember to name all of your child's belongings.
Welcome to Term 4!!
This is certainly another busy term in Year 4, beginning with our sessions in the Life Education Van. We are learning about Resiliency and Identity which forms our Topic of learning this term.
Jingle is coming up quickly! Watch out for details of this in our school newsletter.
Calendars will be available for ordering soon - again, please keep an eye on the school newsletter for details.
We are looking forward to finally visiting MOTAT as part of our Topic of learning for Term 3 in Week 2. All other classroom programmes continue as before.

Welcome to our new Year 4 students and their families!
Reading, Writing and Maths programmes continue in classes. We have lots happening in Maths this term; we begin with Money and Time. Week 4 will be very busy with MATHSWEEK and the Bookweek running at the same time. We will also be covering Mass before returning to Numeracy .
We begin the term with our Olympics Unit before moving into Social Sciences after Bookweek. In this unit we will be focusing on the NZ Histories curriculum.
In Visual Art one of our pieces will be for the Annual Calendar Art fundraiser. More details around this will be available at the end of the term.

This term is another busy one!
Reading and Writing programmes continue from Term One, with Geometry and Multiplication/Division and Fractions the focus for Mathematics.
Our topic is The Rocky Shore and we have Road Safety Week in Week 4.
We start our Gymnastics programme in Week 2 until Week 6, with Cross Country practice in the first 3 weeks of the Term.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the end of Term 2 to share your childs progress.

Our topics this term begin with What we value in each Year 4 classroom. This will include a focus on the Browns Bay School Values, and how we show these values in the classroom. At the beginning of March we will begin the 21 Day Ocean Explorers Challenge.
Reading, Writing and Maths programmes will be underway by Week 4.
Year 4 Swimming begins in Week 2 and will run in even weeks (Week 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) weather permitting. Each class has a library session every week.
