As a member of the high school volleyball team, there have been some adjustments to our season due to COVID-19. It has been difficult to grasp the idea of some of these changes, but they are necessary to stop the spread of the virus. First, the most difficult pill to swallow was that we have to wear face coverings at all times, during practices and games. During practices, we have regularly scheduled mask breaks to catch our breath. It is harder to wear them in games because of the breathing restrictions in a physically intense match.
In our first match on August 27 we played Logan View and Boys Town in a triangular. A triangular includes three teams, and each team plays the other two teams. In total there are three games. Our competitors were Logan View and Boys Town. We won both of our games. Each varsity player was allowed to have two family guests attend the game. Thursday night was also Senior Night. We celebrated Lily Teunissen, Mia Shipley, and Olivia Vovk. Each senior was allowed to have their parents, grandparents, and siblings there. Before spectators were allowed to enter the game, they were told to complete the Home Health Check distributed by the school. The rules for spectators change from school to school.
Since our first matches, the team has won five games and lost two. We are ranked in the top ten in Class C-2. Senior Olivia Vovk, says, “This season has definitely been one full of surprises but it’s one to remember. The uncertainty of having a season and wearing masks has been stressful for everyone. I don’t think we missed out on much, if anything this has shaped us as a team and helped us grow in ways we never have before.” Another senior, Lily Teunissen, states, “I think this year is a learning year for everyone, but every single player has grown to be a stronger volleyball player and leader.” We are excited to have an amazing season going forward and can’t wait to continue playing together!

The football season was kicked off 2 weeks ago, with the first home game and including "senior night." It was a much anticipated event and many students, teachers, and faculty came to enjoy the game and cheer on the raiders.
The senior football players honored that night were Paul Martinez, Matthew Alli, Austin Vetter, Tommy Pugsley, and Jake Gibbs. The team played against the Stanton football team.
