I am a 6th-grade teacher within the Brown Deer School District. I have been an educator for over 16 years; teaching math, science, social studies, PLTW, and ELA (English Language Arts) along the way. Most recently, I have provided ELA instruction to 8th grade and now 6th grade in Brown Deer for the past 6 years.

My students are expected to read a plethora of books, studying characters, settings, motifs, and themes. We also read many nonfiction pieces in our quest to better comprehend the text features, main ideas with supporting evidence, and real-world application to better understand the information surrounding our lives connecting us around the globe. In our real-world application, we shine a focus on social issues that affect our world and look at the young people who work to make our world a better place for all those who inhabit it.

On a personal note, I have been married to a fellow educator and we have two young children, ages 6 and 4. We live in the Enderis Park neighborhood of Milwaukee. We enjoy the local parks, restaurants, and community gatherings our area provides.

A Look Inside our Classroom

I have a 6th Grade ELA Google Site (click) that acts as a running record of the work we do in class. It contains our work, pictures, student samples, mentor texts, the mini-lesson work which acts as a springboard for our reading and writing work. It's our class diary.

You can also click the image to the left to access our class running record stated above.
