Michael Hisamoto is an actor, playwright, and director. Credits include Stage Kiss, Fast Company, Hold These Truths, Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, Pacific Overtures (Lyric Stage Company), Tiger Style! (Huntington Theatre Company), Allegiance (SpeakEasy Stage Company), Charlotte’s Web (Wheelock Family Theatre), The Ordinary Epic (Crose to Home Productions), King of Shadows (Flat Earth Theatre), and more. A strong proponent of new work, Michael has workshopped countless new plays for institutions like the Seven Devils Playwright's Conference, Williamstown Theatre Festival, MIT, Harvard, The Huntington Theatre Company, SpeakEasy Stage Company, ArtsEmerson/HowlRound, The Kennedy Center, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, CompanyOne, Fresh Ink Theatre, Rhombus Writer's Group, and more. Michael was previously a Playwriting Resident at the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival and he has been recognized for his work in the theatre by the California State Senate and Assembly. Michael believes in educating the next generation, teaching and having taught at multiple institutions, and happily offers career consultation free of charge to young artists of color.
