Scientists for a Sustainable World provides a platform for students with concrete ideas for energy, water, and waste reduction projects at Brown and in the wider Providence community. By engaging students in ongoing dialogue with each other and our partners at Facilities, we are able to pinpoint problem areas and effectively address them.
Past projects include the installation of solar panels on the Environmental Program House, dorm efficiency audits, digital energy use reductions, EcoFlow shower heads around campus, lighting upgrades in low income homes in Providence, and designing and building a real-time waste auditing system for use in Brown’s dining halls. In our current project, we are building a solar powered laptop charging station.
