CAPS Urgent Supports

Please call us at 401-863-3476 and follow the prompts to be connected to a provider who can help. This is available 24/7, every day of the year, and is accessible from anywhere. Any student in a crisis that involves suicidal or homicidal thoughts is helped throughout the day, no appointment necessary.

Alternatives to CAPS Urgent Supports:

Some students prefer to talk with someone unaffiliated with the university, or are having difficulty accessing other resources for any reason. We don't want that to stand in the way of you getting the care that you need. These are some of the community and national resources that provide urgent mental health services, and are not affiliated with Brown.

Samaritans of Rhode Island (great option if you are feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, or just need to talk to someone): 401-272-4044.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (great option for situations related to self-harm and suicidal thoughts): 800-273-8255 or 988

Crisis TextLine (great option if talking in voice to someone is a barrier): Text 'HOME' to 741741 to be connected.
