Who We Are

2024-2025 BSP Mentors!

As a group of Brown University undergraduates pursuing degrees in STEM, we are passionate about teaching science with a hands-on approach, emphasizing ideas that aren't commonly covered in the classroom.

Our mission is to make the science not only more approachable and understandable, but also more FUN!

We emphasize a diversity of modern applications of Biology, Neuroscience, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, and Mathematics with interactive and group activities to show students the remarkable possibilities of science in the modern age.

In doing so, we hope to inspire passions for science in our students and help them, through college mentoring and advising, pursue education in the sciences beyond the high school level.

Katie Sun

Hello! My name is Katie and I'm a junior from Bay Area, California, concentrating in Computational Biology. Outside of BSP, I'm involved in a cancer research lab at Brown, Design X Health, and volunteering. I love to bake/cook, go on nature walks to whistle with the birds, and explore cute cafes with friends!

Khoi Le

Hi, my name is Khoi! I am a fourth-year student from Plymouth, MN concentrating in computational biology. Outside of BSP, you’ll find me trying to keep up with the Brown running club, playing piano, or juggling my Chinese yo-yos. My favorite science activities are dissections, especially for invertebrates. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Rohan Reddy

Hey y'all, my name is Rohan, and I'm a current junior at Brown studying Biology on the Physiology and Biotechnology track and Education Studies! My scientific interests include physiology, ecology, and astronomy. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family, taking photos with my camera, and eating at Heng Thai.

Ava Steger

Hello! I am Ava, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado! I'm concentrating in Immunobiology and work in a conservation genomics lab, studying the antibiotic resistance in giraffe microbiomes. I'm also a TA for microbiology and virology, and outside of class, I love rainy weather and listening to music.

Keean Kawamoto

Hey guys! I'm Keean and I'm a sophomore from Sandy, Utah studying Chemical Biology. On campus, I'm also involved in Japanese Cultural Association, TAing for orgo, chemistry research, and Science Olympiad. I love to play and watch basketball, go thrifting, travel, and explore the outdoors. I'm hype to see everyone at lessons!

Natalie Morrell

Hi everyone! My name is Natalie and I'm a junior from Milford, CT concentrating in biochemistry. Outside of BSP, I do scientific research, club gymnastics, and I love drawing, crocheting, and knitting. Hope to see you soon!

Thanmay Kumar

Hey guys! My name’s Thanmay and I’m a senior from Cocoa Beach, FL. I’m concentrating in neuroscience but I’m really interested in entrepreneurship as well. I love exploring nature, especially kayaking and scuba diving, and finding hidden gems around Providence. As a foodie, I’m obsessed with mangoes and my favorite dish is masala dosa. Super excited to meet you all!

Aditi Dey

Hi!! I’m Aditi Dey, and I’m a junior at Brown University studying Public Health and Contemplative Studies on the pre-med track. I am interested in Alzheimer’s disease research and global health. I also enjoy dancing as part of Brown Badmaash, and in my free time, I love to paint!

Chiara Sardi Rogines

Hi! I am a second-year from Newton, MA concentrating in Applied Math-Bio and Neuroscience. I love making science fun and accessible for students and enjoy reading, baking, cooking, and crocheting in my free time. I'm excited to share my curiosity and inspire high schoolers to explore science!

Jessie Lin

Hi! I’m a junior from Potomac, MD, studying Biology on the immunology track. In my free time, I enjoy playing pickleball, rockclimbing, and eating Mala noodles. I am super excited to be back for another awesome year with BSP and share my passion for science!

Madeline Awad

Hello! My name is Madeline and I’m from St. Louis, MO concentrating in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. Outside of BSP, I’m involved in Connect for Health, CareFree Clinic, and Infectious Disease Society Magazine. I love to try new coffee spots and spend time with friends and family. I’m so excited to join the BSP team and meet you all!

Eugenie Kim

Hi! I’m Eugenie and I’m a first-year from Southern California planning to concentrate in Health & Human Biology. I’m also currently getting involved in Korean American Student Association, Salt & Light, and some pre-med clubs! I love spending time with friends, going to the beach, tanning, and frozen yogurt. I’m super excited to join BSP and meet everyone!!

Anne Kelly

Hi!! I'm Anne, and I'm a first-year from Los Angeles, California. I'm concentrating in Neuroscience, but I also love biology and literature (and anything science). At Brown, I am part of Club Tennis and Beauty and the Beats, + I'm always down for some pickleball and hanging with friends. I can't wait to meet everyone!

Harrison Yu

Hi, my name is Harrison! I am a second-year student from Cypress, TX, concentrating in neuroscience and music. I spent my first nine years in Taipei, Taiwan, before moving to Texas. Outside of BSP, you’ll find me practicing piano, playing basketball, lifting, or heading to Boston for symphony concerts. I also research neuro-oncology, volunteer at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and with Connect for Health, and TA for The Foundation of Living Systems (BIOL 0200). Looking forward to meeting you all!

Meera Bhutani

Hi! My name is Meera and I’m a freshman from Mumbai, India, planning to concentrate in applied math and biology. Outside of school and mentoring, I enjoy long walks, reading (mostly fiction and science books), doing calligraphy, and baking chocolate chip cookies with my friends.
