What is BioCON?

BioCON (Biology Careers, Opportunities, and Networking) at Brown University is a graduate student-led initiative that provides opportunities to learn about diverse STEM-related career paths outside of academia from speakers with higher degrees in the life sciences. With support from multiple Brown University sources that span the Office of Biology Doctoral Education(OBDE), the Division of Biology and Medicine (BioMed), and many graduate life-sciences programs, BioCON is dedicated to provide graduate students with a seminar series, as well as networking and professional development opportunities across a variety of non-academic career trajectories throughout the life sciences. From positions in industry/biotech, to science policy and communication, to venture capital, to tech transfer and IP, and even to public health and government, BioCON aims to bring in leaders across these diverse career sectors to highlight the plethora of opportunities that Brown graduates have available to them after graduating with higher-level STEM degrees.
