The seminar series aims to bring together Brown University graduate students and individuals who have completed graduate work and gone into fields aside from academia to network and share insights. Each month, we invite individuals from companies that hire PhD and master's students throughout the life sciences. Although not required, these individuals preferably have a master's or PhD in a life-science-related field. We ask that they each speak for 30 minutes about their career path, advice they wish they had been given, and a day in their life at their place of work. Following their speeches, we have a dinner/discussion for another hour. This hour allows all individuals to network. By networking with professionals, Brown University graduate students make the connections they need to be hired out of graduate school. By networking with Brown graduate students, employers can hire talented, charismatic individuals.
