What does it mean to be CPR Certified?
A CPR certification is a credential, often a card, that certifies your training in the skills you have learned to perform. We offer certification through the American Heart Association.
I am already certified, but it has expired- what do I do?
Currently, we only offer recertification courses to departments on campus. Don't worry, you can still take one of our classes and it will recertify you. It costs the same amount (we only charge for AHA certification fees and tuition) but will still be the full class length of 3-4 hours.
What's next after certification?
AHA CPR certification expires every 2 years. This means that you will need to recertify before the month listed on your card.
Students can claim their ecard via email or via SMS text (via text, if the student provides a mobile number)
Via email: Students will receive an email from ecards@heart.org to claim their ecard. If they do not find this email in their inbox, they are to check their junk or spam folders. Alternatively, they can use the following link to search for or claim their ecard: heart.org/cpr/mycards.
Via SMS text: If student provides a mobile number, the ecard can be viewed by texting eCard to the number 51736. If the message is sent correctly, they will receive instructions via text message on how to claim their ecard. If the student attempts to opt-in and their number is not in the system, they will receive a message that the phone number was not found.
Please note: The spelling of the students name and/or email address on the roster will directly reflect how it appears on the AHA website. If a middle initial is included, AHA/ATLAS will require if for any future look-up or search purpose. Please ask students to make a note of the way they provided their name and/or email address.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If students cannot find their ecard or have a spelling error, ask them to try the following steps before contacting the training center office:
Check Email: Run a few searches in their email to ensure the eCard link was not overlooked.
Spam/Junk Folders: Check spam and junk folders.
Email Addresses: Verify which email address was used if there are multiple addresses.
Search Email Senders: Look for emails from: No-eccreply@heart.org or eCards@heart.org.
**Alternative Method: If the email still cannot be found, try this link: heart.org/cpr/mycards.
This link can be used to search, claim, or re-claim the eCard, or to correct any misspellings or update any information on their ecards. Note: If there is a misspelling on first name, last name or email address, claim the eCard with the incorrect information first, then they can edit the information on the eCard themself.
