Ms. Ruiz serves on the Board of Directors for the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) where she identifies and steers new strategies and forward-thinking policies that position the Society as a leader in evidence-based tropical medicine and global health research, practice, and training.
Brown University Chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science
Ms. Ruiz is the President of the Brown chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). In this role, she is actively involved in the organization of professional development workshops, inclusive academic conferences, and social outings to foster a community of Latinx and Native American undergraduate, graduate students, and post-docs in science and engineering at Brown University and neighboring institutions.
Brown University Diversity Advisory Board
Ms. Ruiz is the Graduate Student Representative on the University Diversity Advisory Board. Ms. Ruiz works with the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity, the Provost, faculty members, administrators, and students to assess university policies and initiatives pertaining to characteristics of identity, in order to unite the Brown University community and engage in critical conversations about inclusivity and diversity.
