Our VEX IQ teams are made up of talented students from Loyola Academy, Brophy's middle school. As high school mentors, we guide these young engineers, helping them develop their robotics skills and teamwork abilities. Together, we tackle challenges, innovate solutions, and foster a passion for STEM that goes beyond the classroom.
The VEX IQ 2024-2025 game, "Constructive Chaos," challenges teams to navigate a dynamic and ever-changing environment that mirrors the unpredictability of real-world engineering projects. The game field is designed like a miniature construction site with a variety of elements such as beams, blocks, and panels scattered across the field.
The primary objective is to build a central structure using these scattered materials. Teams must strategize how to efficiently collect, transport, and assemble these components to create the tallest and most stable structure within the given time frame. The game also features "Chaos Zones," areas that randomly activate during the match, introducing obstacles like moving barriers or shifting platforms, forcing teams to quickly adapt their strategies.
Robots must be agile, versatile, and capable of multitasking, as points are awarded for both the height of the structure and for completing side challenges, such as maneuvering through tight spaces or triggering specific switches around the field. Teams will need to balance speed with precision, all while coordinating with their alliance partner to maximize their score.
"Constructive Chaos" emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and innovative problem-solving, pushing teams to think like real-world engineers as they construct order out of chaos.
