Counseling Department Mission & Beliefs

Our mission is to empower students to discover their full potential by addressing their individual needs through a comprehensive school counseling program. The school counseling program will help students gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for academic success, career exploration and social/emotional development to become productive citizens. We strive to create a safe, quality learning environment for all students, where they become independent, responsible and successful lifelong learners that are equipped to have a positive impact on their community and society. We advocate for equity, access and success for every student, encouraging student self-advocacy and accountability.

As school counselors, we believe:

  • All students have dignity and worth.

  • All students can achieve and should achieve equitable support for their personal growth.

  • All students deserve to be a member of an inclusive school community.

  • Students learn about their personal value and potential to contribute society through a variety of programs and opportunities at school.

  • Learning is relevant to students when they apply their experiences in school to a variety of other settings.

  • All students shall have access to a school counselor who advocates for their academic, career and social/emotional needs.

  • All students deserve the collaborative efforts of the school support team, parents, administrators, community members and teacher.
