Course Content

Art I is a Basic Foundations course. This will include two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and visual literacy experiences with a focus on the elements and principles of design, with most of the emphasis placed on the elements of Art. The student will develop and refine attitudes, knowledge and skills through a wide range of approaches. Beyond the creation of works of art, appreciation of art at this level focuses on understanding art as a visual language. Opportunities for self-evaluation of their artistic efforts as well as opportunities to reflect on the artistic achievements of others are emphasized throughout the program. The relationship of historical and cultural contexts builds a stronger understanding of the impact of the visual world in which we live.
